Police Leadership: A Resource for Self and Group Development is a platform for learning and discussion about today’s public safety issues and the role of leaders. It is particularly helpful for chiefs and their agencies, for individual officers, for academic and educational programs, and for research efforts.

The wide array of products you will find on this web site has a pedigreed history. In 2010 the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) of the US Department of Justice, in collaboration with the Center for Public Safety Innovation at St Petersburg College (FL), funded The Executive Session on Police Leadership (ESPL). The ESPL web site launched in 2014. BJA awarded the project a new grant in 2015 so the work of the project could continue.

Over the years, dozens of experienced and rising police leaders and public safety practitioners have made innovative, timely contributions to the site. In October 2019, BJA funding ended and the web site has been renamed Police Leadership: A Resource for Self and Group Development. It will house the work of ESPL and will make all of its products accessible to organizations and individuals.
